Dopo la formazione in musica classica da giovanissima, Vasuda Sharma è oggi una delle poche artiste indipendenti che si distinguono nell’industria musicale indiana. Precedentemente nota per essere stata l’artista più giovane di Aasma, la più nota pop band in India dell’epoca, Vasuda oggi è conosciuta come artista individuale. Alimentata dalla sua forte passione per la musica, dopo diversi anni come compositrice, decide di approfondire i suoi studi musicali al Berklee College of Music di Boston, creando così una connessione tra il mondo indiano classico e folk e la musica occidentale contemporanea. Dopo più di dieci anni da Aasma, Vasuda permane ancora nel cuore dei suoi fans nazionali. Il suo album di debutto “Attuned Spirits” è stato il primo progetto musicale finanziato nella sua nazione, tramite raccolta fondi. L’album, fu registrato in parte a Boston e in parte in India, utilizzando una molteplicità di strumenti e collaborando con musicisti internazionali. I risultati furono più che gratificanti, rendendola la più grande raccolta fondi di successo nella storia della musica alternativa indiana fino ad oggi. Vasuda ama sperimentare nuovi generi e suoni, i suoi esperimenti l’hanno portata a diventare un artista elettronica autodidatta, un’impresa rara per un’artista solista in India. Sharma suona anche in vari festival con il suo gruppo appena formato “Sharma & The Besharams”. Attualmente sta per registrare il suo nuovo EP con la sua band ed ha lanciato il suo nuovo pezzo elettronico live chiamato “Miss V”, dai toni essenzialmente Electro-Pop con elementi Soul, RnB e loop vocali.

Trained in Indian classical music at a very young age, Vasuda Sharma is one of the few independent artists who stand out in the Indian music industry. Formerly remembered for her stint as the youngest member of India’s first millennial pop band Aasma, Vasuda today stands as an individual artist who’s way more conscious of the medium. Fueled by her passion for music and several years of composing her own tunes, she decided to further her musical education at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. She has since bridged the worlds of Indian classical and folk with western contemporary music, creating a sound which she believes has ample scope to evolve in the future.
More than a decade later since Aasma, Vasuda still lingers in the minds of music lovers across the country. Her debut album ‘Attuned Spirits’ which featured Indian raag elements with an essence of rock was one the country’s’ first ever crowd funded music projects. The album was partly recorded in Boston and partly in India, using multiple instruments and featuring multiple musicians from all over the world. The results were more than gratifying, making her the biggest crowdfunding success story for Indian alternative music so far. Vasuda loves to experiment with new genres and sounds, her experiments led her to become a self-taught live looping electronic artist, a rare feat for a solo female artist in India. Sharma also plays at various festivals with her newly formed band ‘ “Sharma & The Besharams” She is in the process of recording her EP with the band soon.
Vasuda has launched her new live electronic act called “Miss V” in which she plans to showcase the electronic production side of her musicality.The music is essentially Electro- Pop with bits of Soul and RnB that you would witness in her singing,plus some vocal looping alongside.
